Our health and everybody's safety is the most important thing of all. We have to be careful all the time in our daily activities especially in our work. If our work is not that safe, our health also is in risk like the people who work from shipbuilding industry, construction, auto mechanics, contractors, and demolition.
Asbestos exposure is linked to a very dangerous form of lung cancer called Mesothelioma. It can affect both workers and their families.
Miners, industrial workers and others who have been exposed to toxic asbestos may suffer from mesothelioma, a rare but deadly form of cancer that targets the linings of the body’s internal organs. Other workers may contract asbestosis, the chronic inflammatory of the lungs that can cause shortness of breath and eventually respiratory failure. In either case, severe medical problems are likely to develop in victims diagnosed with either disorder.
Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that targets the mesothelium, the membrane that covers and protects most of the internal organs of the body. Once the mesothelium is affected, the cancer can quickly spread to the organs, most commonly the liver and lungs. Approximately 2,000 new cases of mesothelioma are diagnosed in the United States each year. About 80% of people who contract mesothelioma have worked for many years with or around asbestos, a toxic substance that for decades was widely used in insulation, cement, and other common household products.
Mesothelioma is a form of cancer most commonly caused by asbestos exposure that affects thousands of individuals each year in the United States. One of the most fatal and preventable types or cancer, mesothelioma is extremely difficult to detect in the early stages due to the common latency of symptoms until the most serious stages. Once diagnosed, victims are often estimated to have less than a year to survive. However, those who are diagnosed in the early stages of the disease have the highest rate of survival due to the assistance of medical treatments for the disease. Asbestosis is a non-cancerous, chronic lung disease that is also tied to asbestos exposure. Symptoms of the disease include shortness of breath and difficulty breathing, particularly during exertion or physical exercise. Asbestosis is often diagnosed along with mesothelioma.
